The h-aero® family combines the best flight characteristics of a balloon, an airplane and a helicopter in one lightweight system.

The technology
The h-aero® flight concept combines innovative flight dynamics with extremely lightweight construction. Unlike multicopters and fixed-wing aircraft, which generate lift purely dynamically, h-aero® adds the static lift of an elliptical helium balloon — as energy efficient as an airship, but far more agile.

Thanks to VTOL capability no runway is needed, and solar energy on the envelope surface puts autonomous 24-hour non-stop flight within reach. Two symmetrical wings let the system switch between a rotationally symmetric (helicopter) and mirror-symmetric (aeroplane) configuration.

The principle behind h-aero®
Static buoyancy carries the weight; the rotors only steer and accelerate. That is why the platform stays airborne on a fraction of the energy of a multirotor, hovers almost silently, and floats gently down instead of falling if power is lost. Payloads of up to 10 kg are served today, with larger-scale versions in development.
